The Air Force Civil Engineering Academy gives Cadets a chance to learn about a career path in the USAF in Civil Engineering.
The 823rd Red Horse Squadron has a long and distinguished history in the USAF. They have both wartime and peace time missions. They deploy worldwide in austere conditions during wartime and must be self-sufficient for up to 30 days. A rapid response team that can deploy as a squadron or as flights depending on needs, they are the most heavily armed unit in the USAF. In peacetime, they support base operations during a natural or manmade catastrophic event.
Cadets at this activity will receive a combination of classroom instruction as well as hands-on activities. They will learn about such disciplines as heavy equipment management, map making, explosive ordnance disposal, emergency management, water purification, and runway lighting, among others. They also will get instruction on civilian careers in Civil Engineering, as well as practical experience reading blueprints and using a mechanics ruler.
If you are interested in science, math, technology or engineering, this is the activity for you.
